Shooting Film in 2025: Why Analog Still Makes Sense
Film didn't survive the digital revolution by accident. It survived because it does something different.
What Film Actually Changes
- Limited frames force deliberate decisions — every shot costs something.
- Film latitude handles highlights differently, often more forgivingly in harsh light.
- The grain, color science, and tonal response are genuinely distinct from digital presets.
Getting Started Without Overspending
- A used Canon AE-1 or Pentax K1000 is reliable and affordable.
- Start with Kodak ColorPlus or Fuji C200 — cheap, widely available, forgiving.
- Find a local lab or invest in a scanner if you want to go deeper.
Shoot film for thirty days. Your digital work will change too.
