The Minimal Camera Bag: What I Actually Carry

A no-nonsense breakdown of a one-bag street photography kit — everything included, everything justified.

The Minimal Camera Bag: What I Actually Carry

After years of over-packing and stripping back, this is the kit that actually goes everywhere with me.

The Bag Itself

  • A small shoulder bag or sling keeps one hand free and the camera accessible.
  • Padded dividers matter more than brand — protect the gear, not the logo.
  • Waterproof exterior or a rain cover is non-negotiable in most cities.

What Goes Inside

  • One body, two primes — a 28mm and a 50mm covers almost everything.
  • Spare batteries, a cleaning cloth, and a small notebook.
  • Nothing else. Seriously.

Weight is the enemy of spontaneity. The lighter the bag, the longer you walk.
