The Minimal Camera Bag: What I Actually Carry
After years of over-packing and stripping back, this is the kit that actually goes everywhere with me.
The Bag Itself
- A small shoulder bag or sling keeps one hand free and the camera accessible.
- Padded dividers matter more than brand — protect the gear, not the logo.
- Waterproof exterior or a rain cover is non-negotiable in most cities.
What Goes Inside
- One body, two primes — a 28mm and a 50mm covers almost everything.
- Spare batteries, a cleaning cloth, and a small notebook.
- Nothing else. Seriously.
Weight is the enemy of spontaneity. The lighter the bag, the longer you walk.
